Privacy Policy

Overview

SnapSmart (“we,” “our,” or “the app”) is a mobile application that helps you extract text from screenshots and create tasks, reminders, and searchable notes. Your privacy is central to how the app is designed. We process data on your device first and only use cloud services when necessary and with your control.

Local processing

SnapSmart processes all screenshots locally on your device. When you import a screenshot, optical character recognition (OCR) runs entirely on your phone or tablet. Extracted text is stored locally in the app's on-device storage. Smart action detection — identifying dates, times, and suggested tasks — also runs on-device by default.

No screenshot uploads

Your screenshots are never uploaded to any server. We do not collect, transmit, or store your images on external infrastructure. There is no cloud sync of your screenshot library in the current version of the app.

No account required

SnapSmart does not require you to create an account, sign in, or provide personal information to use the app. We do not collect names, email addresses, or other identifying information through the app itself.

Third-party AI — DeepSeek (fallback only)

SnapSmart uses on-device processing as its primary method for understanding extracted text and suggesting actions. When on-device analysis cannot confidently produce a suggested action, the app may use DeepSeek AI as a fallback to help interpret extracted text and suggest tasks or reminders.

Important details about DeepSeek usage:

• Fallback only: DeepSeek is never the first choice. It is invoked only when local on-device analysis is insufficient.
• Text only, never images: Only extracted text from your screenshot is sent to DeepSeek — your screenshot image is never transmitted.
• Purpose-limited: Text is sent solely to generate action suggestions (e.g., reminders, tasks). It is not used for advertising, profiling, or unrelated purposes.
• User control: You can disable cloud AI fallback in the app settings. When disabled, SnapSmart relies entirely on on-device processing.
• Network required: DeepSeek fallback requires an internet connection and only runs when enabled and needed.

DeepSeek is operated by Hangzhou DeepSeek Artificial Intelligence Co., Ltd. Data sent to DeepSeek is subject to DeepSeek's own privacy policy and terms of service. We encourage you to review DeepSeek's policies for information on how they handle API data.

Notifications

SnapSmart uses local notifications solely to deliver reminders that you create within the app. We do not send promotional notifications, and notification permissions are used only for user-initiated reminders.

Data you control

You can delete your screenshots, extracted text, tasks, and reminders at any time from within the app. Uninstalling the app removes all locally stored data from your device. Disabling cloud AI fallback prevents any future text from being sent to DeepSeek.

No sale of personal data

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes. Because SnapSmart operates primarily on your device and does not maintain a central repository of your screenshots, we do not hold a personal data inventory to sell or transfer.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
